Content fields/options (More Options)

The content portion of the Item Editor in Assess.ai has many options.  This article provides definitions of these.

The question stimulus: This includes text, tables, images, resources, and LaTeX entered via the Math Editor.
Number of Columns: Number of columns in the answer option table.
Row count: Number of rows in the classification table.
Column titles: Table column titles.
Row titles: Row titles.
Group possible responses: Categorize possible responses into different groups, with each group having its own heading.
Possible responses: A list of response options to be dragged by the student into the corresponding response positions.
Possible response groups: List of possible response values, grouped together under a category heading.
Set correct answer(s): In this section, configure the correct answer(s) for the question.
Correct: The correct response to the question.
Alternate responses: Add an alternate response, if there is more than one correct overall solution to a question.
Point(s): Score awarded for the correct response(s).
Show drag handle: An icon to the left of each response option that indicates to the student that the item can be dragged.
Duplicate responses: This will allow the possible responses to be reused infinite times. Responses will not disappear from the response container.
Shuffle options: Display the possible response drag and drop options in a different order each time the question is rendered.
Unscored/Practice usage: When enabled, this option removes all scoring from the question. This is useful for creating practice questions.
Penalty point(s): A value which indicates how many marks will be deducted for an incorrect response.
Check answer button: Enables the Check Answer button underneath the question, providing the student with instant feedback on their response(s).
Check answer attempts: If Check Answer is enabled, this field determines how many times a user can click on the Check Answer button (e.g., 0 means unlimited).
Scoring type: The way in which marks are distributed for the question.

• Exact Match: All parts of the question must be answered correctly to receive a mark.
• Partial Match Per Response - Each correct cell will be scored and awarded an individual score.
• Partial match - Each correct part of a response will be awarded a mark.

Rounding: Defines whether score rounding should be applied. The options are as follows: None: Overall question score will be divided between correct responses and rounded to four decimal places, e.g. 2.6666; Floor: Overall question score will be divided between correct responses and rounded down to the nearest whole number. Only works with Partial Match scoring.
Enable auto scoring: Defines whether the question will be marked automatically or must be marked manually.
Minimum score if attempted: Positive value indicating the minimum score, if a student attempted the question.
Max score: The highest score that can be awarded for the response. Needs to be configured by development team.
Response container position: Defines the position of the possible responses container. The container can be positioned on the top, bottom, left or right of the question.
Stem numeration (review only): Numeration characters displayed to the left of the validation label. Only visible in review state.
Row titles width: The width of the row title column.
Row min height: The minimum height of the row title column.
Row header: Header of the row column.
Maximum responses per cell: Limits the number of possible responses a cell can have. When set to 0 or blank, unlimited responses can be dragged into a cell.
Font size: Controls the size of the font for the question.

Acknowledgements: A multi-use field that is used to add acknowledgments (copyright, credits, thanks).
Distractor rationale: Used to display response feedback/rationale to the student. (future functionality)
Rubric reference: Refers to a pre-created rubric in the item bank. (future functionality)
Stimulus (review only): Shows an alternate (e.g. abbreviated) question stimulus when in review mode. (future functionality)
Instructor stimulus: Provides additional details to Proctors/Instructors during assessments (never shown to students) Can be previewed in the Question Editor. (future functionality)
Sample answer: A sample answer that is stored for display/reference when teacher scoring. (future functionality)
Distractors: Used to display individual response feedback/rationale to the student. (future functionality)
Contains math: Enabling this option allows LaTeX or MathML to be rendered in the question and answer options. If you try to enter math while this option is disabled, the LaTeX/MathML will not render properly on the screen.
Math renderer: Choose the rendering engine for math content within a question. The default rendering engine is MathJax with MathQuill for input areas. If you change this option to "MathQuill", MathQuill renders all math content within a question.
