You will often need to edit the metadata of an existing item. For example, you want to record that the source of an item was page 523 of a textbook, or enter classical statistics on item performance.
Note that the header of the Item Editor interface has four tabs: Content, About, Statistics, and Activity. This article discusses the content of the item, which is where most of the work takes place for developing an item. The other tabs are also important.
The About tab is used to store commonly used metadata regarding the item, as well as change its ID.
The Statistics tab stores classical and item response theory statistics for the items, so that these can be used later in form assembly and scoring algorithms, as well as being stored here for posterity. The bottom half of this screen will track historical statistics so that organizations can track item performance across time. These statistics can be imported from a spreadsheet; they do not need to be entered one by one.
The final tab of an item, Activity, provides a running history of user interactions with the item. These can be exported to PDF as a formal report if required.
- Click on then name of an item within the Item Bank.
- Select the tab on top regarding the aspect you wish to edit, such as About or Statistics. Edit fields, as needed.
- Click the Save & Exit button to exit the Edit Item screen.
