If your administrator allows or requires you to take your exam using Proctor Exam, this article provides an overview of the ProctorExam set up and exam process.
Our Goal:
To register for our ProctorExam test, check that our system meets the minimum requirements, and start our exam.
Steps:
Step 1: When you are completely registered for a ProctorExam test, you will receive an email with a link that says "Verify your system meets the minimum requirements for this test" This is very important. Your exam link will only be emailed to you if you complete the system requirements check, even if you have done this requirements check in the past.
Step 2: If you are in Google Chrome, click the link to verify your system requirements. If not, copy the link provided in your email and open it in Google Chrome.
Step 3: Working through the system requirements should only take a few minutes. You will be required to check your microphone. When your microphone picks up sound to the system's satisfaction, you will see a success message. Click "Next"
Step 4: To test your system's audio, an audio clip will begin to play. If you can hear it, click "Yes." You will see a success message. Click "Next"
Step 5: You will then be given information about your internet speed requirements. Click the link to check your internet speed. Remember, having a good internet connection is your own responsibility. If your speed is sufficient, click "Next"
Step 6: You will then test your webcam. Your face should appear in the square below the instructions. When you can confirm that you see yourself well, click "Next" (Troubleshooting Tip: If you are stuck at this step, this could be for a number of network security or permissions reasons. See Troubleshooting: ProctorExam to learn more)
Step 7: Then you will test your screen sharing. A pop up will appear that will ask you to select your screen for sharing. You should only see one screen available to select. Select your "Your Entire Screen," then click "Share" You will see a success message. Click "Next"
(NOTE: This can be another problem area if you are using external monitors or testing at your workplace. If you see more than one screen to share, this can be because you have external monitors running. ProctorExam does not allow the use of external monitors. Unplug or Disable all external monitors when using ProctorExam. Sometimes network restrictions prevent employees from using this functionality. See Troubleshooting: ProctorExam to learn more)
Step 8: When you have completed your system requirements check. You may close the tab and wait for your Start Exam email. If you do not receive that email within a few minutes, check your spam/junk folder. If you still cannot find it, contact support@assess.com.
